NCEAS lives! And issues a new call for working group proposals!

I’ve done a couple of posts in which I’ve declared NCEAS dead in its current form. Well, NCEAS (via Jai Ranganathan) just sent me a note reading “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.”*

While NCEAS is no longer NSF funded, it still has other sources of support, and has just issued a new call for working group proposals. As you will see, the deadlines are tight, both in terms of when applications need to be submitted (end of Aug.), and when funded groups need to start (before the end of 2012, with ability to return high impact results within 12 months). So get it in gear–NCEAS lives!

p.s. It was a tough call whether to go with the Hulk picture or this clip from FrankensteinI went with the Hulk for Hulk fan Jarrett Byrnes, as a way of apologizing for prematurely declaring his former employer dead. 😉

*Click the link if you don’t get the joke; it’s a reference to a famous anecdote about Mark Twain.
